Reuse & Repurpose: Book Lights

If you happen to run a book shop, don't worry about sending the non-sellers back to the publisher for credit. Just turn them into decorative lighting to illuminate your store.

I couldn't say for sure if these books hanging from the ceiling of the café at McNally Jackson were once in the return bin, but they certainly make an eye catching, suspended library for this independent bookseller.

Always Frugal, Always Fabulous!

The Elegant Thrifter

  1. Thats pretty neat! Sort of makes me want to try and make a whole bedroom suite out of books.

  2. AB-FAB!!! L*O*V*E them! Very cool idea.

    sending warm sunshine from Hawaii

  4. Very creative! I love these book lights.

  5. so unique & perfect for a work space. great post!

  6. I know some people take issue with using books for things besides reading, but I think it is better for them to become art than be tossed in the trash heap. And honestly, let's admit to the fact that if the volumes they used had been great works to begin with, they would have stayed on someone's shelves. Not all books are *Finds* like yours! These fixtures are fabulous and sure to be copied many times over. (Possibly by me!) Thanks for sharing.
