Mystery Giveaway: Clue Number Four

What a major clue to divining the identity of the thrift-store mystery gift I'm revealing tomorrow! Why, I'm practically handing its identity to you on a vintage, toll-painted tray. If that's not enough, let me add this: the little Morton Salt girl might not need such a gigantic umbrella if she had my mystery gift.

Have you got it? Do you need more clues? Go look at the past three day posts, and I bet you can figure it out by now. I'll reveal the mystery gift tomorrow and announce the winner on Monday, December 7.

Remember, to sweeten the deal I''ll also be sending the winner of this contest a personalized copy of my book The Find: The Housing Works Book of Decorating With Thrift Shop Treasures, Flea Market Objects, and Vintage Details.

Today's clue is a little late, since it didn't post as scheduled, and I had to go to a local coffee shop in Zagreb, Croatia to find Internet service. There may be more than two winners because someone or something may have already guessed it. Hmmmmmm. and I might be throwing in some consolation prizes once I study the results on return to New York.

Get your thinking cap on!

  1. oh i know i know!! one of those fabulous plastic head scarves that you see little old ladies wear??

  2. Tell me it's a funky, little fold up plastic rain bonnet with it's own little carrying case!

  3. I don't have a thinking cap... not yet anyway! But I'm sticking with my guess of the past two days: a plastic rain bonnet.

p.s. I may be anonymous, but I'm not a "something." Though I have been called "Miss Thing" in my day, come to think of it.

  4. It's a rain bonnet! My grandma still wears one!

  5. Hi Stan glad you are okay... was wondering where you got to today...

Thanks for stopping by and leaving me such a sweet comment...

hmmm... I am still going with a vintage hair dryer... I am guessed out... I can't wait until tomorrow to see what this is... IT'S MAKING ME CRAZY... LOL

  6. A kerchief? My mom had lots of great ones she carried with her

  7. One of those accordion pleated rain bonnets or just a bubble rain bonnet?

    (the suspense is killing me)

    LuLu Kellogg

  8. Yeah, a plastic cape....OMG, how funny!

  9. Oh my gosh - it's a rainbonnet, right?! :)

  10. Oh I agree it's a plastic rain bonnet. Well if it's not that then i'm REALLY stumped. I want your book! :)

  11. Oh wait I reread the clue, might it be a raincoat? One of those plastic kind? That's my other guess.

  12. Oh, could it possibly be a specially-sized bouffant-hairdo rain bonnet?
